Oil pulling is a traditional folk remedy that involves swishing about a tablespoon of oil in your mouth for about 20 minutes. Sound disgusting right? Yeah. HOWEVER, I read that not only does it help clean your body and mouth of bacteria and toxins, but it helps with sensitive teeth!! I am all for anything that helps with that, especially since I heard oil pulling worked for one of my good friends.
The first time I tried it I almost puked... the taste wasn't the bad part (I use organic coconut oil so it tastes like coconuts which is awesome). The bad part is if you swallow even the smallest bit of oil you instantly don't feel good. Obviously you are NOT supposed to swallow any but since it's a reflex its bound to happen. It also doesn't help that when coconut oil is at room temperature it's a solid, so you have to chew it so that it warms up. BLEH!!!
I've been doing this every night for about two weeks. Have I seen any results? YES! Although my sensitive teeth aren't totally cured they have improved. I don't think I will ever be able to bite into ice cream, but a glass of ice water doesn't bother me as much as it used to!
I think its also supposed to help whiten teeth but I don't think thats working for me. So if you're interested in trying it out for that reason, I'm not sure if you're going to get results.
Thanks for reading!!
